While minecraft isn't super graphical like some games, as you add mods and shader packs you will want more video horsepower. In closing, it will run Minecraft without the added video card, but adding one will make a huge improvement in reducing lag while playing with more advanced graphics and mods. You may also need to upgrade the power supply in the PC to accommodate the video card depending on which one you get (if you get the GTX I mentioned above, you will need a power supply with more wattage, easy to install and not much money (ex.
