• You can use the online version of Word and Excel, but not the downloaded version. You can convert docs to Word, PDF, and other formats if you use Google Docs or Spreadsheets.

• No, with a Chromebook you will be using Google DOCS which is completely compatible with Microsoft Office. Google DOCS will let you safe as PDF.
