I think this would be an IDEAL laptop for a student. 14" is a little less portable than a 13.3", but the value for the money is GREAT. Look for an open box one for better deal.

The Solid State Drive makes it snappy and responsive to having multiple screens open. the 14" screen also is just big enough to have two windows open side by side if you are studying and trying to take notes. It's also got enough umph to watch Netflix/Youtube videos (and some minor games). There are cheaper options out there if you are just wanting something to browse the internet and write notes (like some of the Chromebooks out there) but I have found that this fits my everyday computing needs well. It's really built to be a midrange, all-around use computer. Hope this helps.
