This is a mid range system. It is good for Microsoft Office projects (software will need to be purchased), online research, email, social media and light video streaming (less than 30 minute videos without buffering). Of course, all internet speeds are based on your internet connection speeds. If this is the kind of work your child will be doing, this device will be a good choice.

Please try again later.I got it for my 13 year old about 4 weeks ago, but am no fan; it will do what you are asking and do it well...but since 11-in is too small to be ergonomic, if you attempt to connect to wireless keyboard/mouse and an external monitor, you will run into a lot of issues and will need to invest in wireless display solutions...and I am nervous that one of these days the wireless display (miracast) will croak and I will be left with a 11-in laptop which is not usable for long periods of time given its small screen size. If I had a chance to do over, I would invest in the lowest cost MacBook Air. The build quality is worth it.
