I don't think Best Buy could check anything before sending it to you but I bought mine from them and I've had it for about two and a half weeks with no black bar so far. I've seen the issue you're talking about and I believe Lenovo may have fixed it by now. It doesn't seem like many people are having this issue anymore. If by some chance you do have it pop up, you have 14 days with Best Buy and one year with Lenovo. It's covered.

Some reviewers report the issue appearing within the first month of using the laptop, but I don't know what the average is. But just be aware, even if the laptop ships without the black bar issue, the issue can still appear over time. I've owned mine for about 20 days now and so far, so good.
