QuestionWill the volume setting (numbers) show up on the TV when using my cable remote. I have an 8 year old LG Smart TV and my cable remote changes and shows any volume change. One answer says you can control it but does not say if you can see the number.

- Answer When the LG SK1 2.0 Channel Compact Sound Bar with Bluetooth® Connectivity is connected to an LG TV, the volume will be displayed as increasing numbers when raising the volume and as decreasing numbers when lowering the volume. Regrettably, we don't have any information on your cable remote to verify if using the cable remote will do the same of even if the cable remote can control the Soundbar. If it is a universal remote or learning remote that can be setup or programmed to control the Soundbar, it might show the numbers for the volume. You will need to contact your cable company to inquire if your remote is capable of controlling LG Soundbars...^IFV

- Answer That will depend on what connectivity you have on your 42" TV. The LG SK1 2.0 Channel Compact Sound Bar with Bluetooth® Connectivity can be connected to a TV in one of three ways. IT supports Bluetooth, so if your TV supports Bluetooth, you can pair the Soundbar with your TV for a wireless Bluetooth connection. It features an Optical Digital Audio Input that can be connected to the Optical Digital Audio Out on a TV which is the most common way most TVs can be connected to a Soundbar. If the above-mentioned methods are not viable and you TV has the older Analog Stereo RCA Audio Output (Red/White), you can connect those to the AUX In (3.5mm) port on the Soundbar. You will need the appropriate RCA Stereo to mini stereo cable for that...^IFV

- Answer The LG 2.0-Channel Soundbar with 40-Watt Digital Amplifier - Black, Model # SK1 has Bluetooth connectivity so it can be paired with a TV that supports Bluetooth for a wireless Bluetooth connection, or it can be connected to a TV that has an Optical Digital Audio Out. It also has a 3.5 mm Auxiliary In (AUX In) port that you could use to connect to an older TV that has the older RCA (Red/White) barrel ports using the appropriate cable. If you cannot move your TV to see what connection ports it has, you can check your owner's manual for the TV or contact the manufacturer...^IFV

- Answer I'm using the optical cable & the tv remote to my LG Smart TV does work to control the volume on the sound bar. Also the remote to my roku also works to control volume on the sound bar.
