yes, speakers can be plugged in via a 3.5 mm jack on the unit.

Always double check the manual first to make sure there is no warning against that. It would be better to connect the speakers to the computer itself—if you have a decent sound card, you’ll get better sound from speakers that connect to the desktop rather than the monitor.
