A:Answer 1) I don't find any way to illuminate the controls, such as buttons to select bake, convection bake, start, etc. Only lights on the panel are in the display, where the clock, set temp, etc. shows up. And the light inside the oven. I didn't read through the entire manual but scanned the first section on controls, and didn't see anything about that. BTW, you can get the manual from LG's website if you want to explore the features.
2) I can set a temp and start, for example I would press Bake > 400 > Start and it will start preheating. Hope I understood the question correctly.
We got ours in May, so it's possible they've changed things since then.
