Q: QuestionHow hard would it be to get the washer/dryer up 2 flights of stairs? The stairs have two landings so its not a straight shot up. The previous owners had full size washer/dryers but they were separate units. Thanks.

• A:Answer I would say it would take really careful planning. It can be moved including up stairs on a hand truck--by someone strong and with experience. It is heavy and tall. You would need to measure to be sure the height can be accommodated by the ceilings over the stairs, and the space on the landings to make the turns. It would probably be best to move it while still in the box, but check the measurements of the box, even bigger than the machine. It's possible to disassemble the unit so you could move the washer/dryer parts separately and then reassemble. Q: QuestionHow difficult is it to self-install? Not worried about the electrical and water connections, but if the unit comes already stacked, it will be difficult for my wife and I to move it due to the combined weight. Or does it come in separate boxes?

• A:Answer I did my own install, replaced 12 year old wash tower so every thing was there. I have tile floor were unit sits and just used felt gliders on the feet, was easy to push around. Unit comes as one piece, but you can separate them if needed to install a side vent for the dryer. Comes with a wrench to remove shipping bolts and adjust feet to level unit and keep it from rocking. Mine was an easy job with a little help from my wife to watch the blind side.

Q: QuestionHow often does the drain pump filter need to be changed? How much does this repair usually cost?

• A:Answer Drain filter is a screw in canister accessible by the bottom front door in the left corner of the washer. There is also a small drzin hose with plug as well. You simply drain the water into a small container via the hose (I do this after every 1 to 2 loads) and then unscrew the drain fliter, rinse with water and clean, and screw back on. Only takes a few minutes to do. No repair.

• A:Answer It can easily accommodate two queen-sized sheets & four pillowcases, along with several full sized towels + more. While not the absolute largest washer available, it is quite large. I have yet to run a load at full capacity. Even for all but the largest families, I'd say most would seldom have enough laundry of a particular type to fill it to capacity, unless you are willing to mix light colors with dark.

• A:Answer I’ve only had my unit a short time but the very first load I did was spun so dry I had to question if I even needed to put them in the dryer because they could have air dried in a few minutes. It was a small load but upon investigation I realized that I had chosen to use the highest level of spin available on the unit; there are multiple levels to choose from.

• A:Answer You have to purchase a power cord separately. Newer construction has a 4 prong plug but if you have a 3 prong then that will work. The installation book shows you how to install either one. If your outlet is near the floor I highly recommend getting a 10 foot cord. I had a 6 foot cord and I could not plug it in.

• A:Answer Yes! A great question. In fact I contacted LG at their website to ask that very question before I purchased. They said yes. I also use the solid bleach pods. I put both IN THE DRUM AND NOT IN THE DISPENSER. LG instructs, do not use pods in the dispenser! Also, LG advises use only one HE pod per load! I have used two pods for big loads, but I take care to have 2-3 extra rinses! You don't want the soap to clog the drains. Similarly, I use only one solid bleach pod. I have had only small loads of white clothes. Again, if I thought a load needed 2 bleach pods I would activate more than one rinse! Finally, for loads of colored clothes I do put a capful of color safe stain remover directly into the drum, NOT IN THE BLEACH DISPENSER.

• A:Answer "Downloaded" cycles refers to cycles available online that can be downloaded to your machine. Once you use this capability the Rinse & Spin default available by using the "Downloaded" button on the control panel will be replaced by whatever cycle you choose to download. Also, additional cycles are available if you use LG's ThinQ app on your smartphone. A list of cycles is available there. Choose one and select "send to machine" and it will be instantly loaded on your machine, ready to go. The "Options", such as TurboWash, Steam, Extra Rinse, etc. are available via buttons on the control panel to allow you to make changes/additions to the cycle you select. You can also change water temperature, spin speed, soil level from what the cycle selected suggests, if you want. Bottom line, the machine has a nice list of cycles that work very well, but you also have the option to make changes if you want.
