- A:Answer Hi there, thank you for your question! We understand you're asking about the space required behind the wall for the ventless version of the LG WKHC252HBA WashTower™. For the ventless dryer design, the unit requires a minimum clearance of 1 inch at the rear to ensure proper airflow and functionality. https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-wkhc252hba-washtower#pdp_specs If you have more specific installation questions or need further assistance, please feel free to send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport. Q: QuestionFollowing up on my venting of the dryer question, can the condensate be set up to drain into the washing machine sanitary drain?
Asked by Chip.
- A:Answer Yes, It's setup to do that. Everything you will need comes with the tower. I had the Geek Squad install mine. Took about 30 minutes from start to finish. Considering its size I would suggest you doing the same. It's heavy.

Q: QuestionDoes this washtower have two separate pumps - 1 for the washer (at bottom left front) and 1 for the dryer (pushing condensation out the drain hose)? Washer pump works, but dryer doesn't drain. Is there a dedicated dryer pump? If so is it the "heat pump"?
Asked by DSWebb.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. HE Smart Front Load Washer and 7.8 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer WashTower with Steam and Ventless Heat Pump Tech - Black Steel
- A:Answer Hi, there! Thanks for reaching out — it’s great that you’re taking a close look at how the LG WashTower (WKHC252HBA) manages drainage between the washer and dryer. The washer does have its own dedicated drain pump located in the lower front area, which handles all water removal during wash and rinse cycles. The dryer, however, works differently. Because this model uses ventless heat‑pump drying, it does not have a separate “dryer drain pump.” Instead, the heat pump system removes moisture from the air and sends the resulting condensation through the same drain line used by the washer. So yes — the “heat pump” is the component responsible for moisture removal in the dryer, but it does not function as a traditional pump. If the dryer isn’t draining, it may be related to: • A kinked or elevated drain hose. • A blocked drain path. • A full or obstructed internal condenser area. • A setup issue where the drain hose isn’t positioned correctly for continuous drainage. Asked by Cindy.

Q: QuestionI am quite confused about this ventless dryer concept. I guess my two main questions 1. What happens with the excess lint that typically expels out of the vent. 2. Does this extend the drying time? How long does a typical load of clothes take to dry.
Asked by Curmudgeon.
- A:Answer The ventless Heat Pump Dryer for the ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient / Energy Star® Certified LG 5.0 Cu. Ft. HE Smart Front Load Washer and 7.8 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer WashTower™ with Steam and Ventless Heat Pump Tech - White. Model # WKHC252HWA, works like a closed-loop dehumidifier, reusing hot air to dry clothes at lower temperatures without needing an external vent. It passes warm, dry air through the drum to absorb moisture, then uses a heat pump system to cool that air, condensing the water into a drain or container. The unit uses a 3-stage filtration system. An inner filter must be removed and cleaned after every load to remove accumulated lint. A second, outer filter sits behind the first and should be cleaned every 10–15 loads to remove fine dust that passes through the first filter. The Auto Cleaning Condenser™ automatically cleans the condenser coils. The dryer uses water extracted from the clothes during the drying cycle to flush lint and debris from the condenser unit, reducing the need for manual condenser maintenance. The Lint Filter Status Indicator lights up when the appliance is turned on as a reminder to clean the lint filter. It turns off when the Start/Pause button is pressed. It also lights up if the lint filter needs to be cleaned. The lint and water flushed by the Auto Cleaning Condenser are expelled through the drain hose, which can lead to the same drain as the washer. Ventless heat pump dryers typically take longer to dry clothes than conventional vented dryers. They take longer because they use lower temperatures and a closed-loop condensation process, though this makes them much more energy-efficient and gentler on fabrics. When a drying cycle is selected, the estimated drying time for the selected cycle is displayed. This time will change if you select extra options for the cycle. The cycle time on Sensor Dry cycles may fluctuate as the appliance recalculates drying time for optimal results...^Ivan.

Q: QuestionThe washer door won’t open. What do I do?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Could you please elaborate more about "The washer door won't open"! Is it not opening during a wash cycle or before you start washing? If the door for the washer on the ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient / ENERGY STAR® Certified LG Single Unit LG WashTower™ with Center Control™ 5.0 cu. Ft. Front Load Washer and 7.8 cu. Ft. Electric Ventless Heat Pump Dryer, Model # WKHC252HWA, is stuck during a wash cycle, first pause the cycle and wait 3-5 minutes for it to cool and unlock. If it remains locked, run a "Spin" cycle to drain excess water. The door lock icon often stays lit until the tub drains, cools down (if hot), and stops spinning. This can take 3-5 minutes. If the washer has water, it will not unlock. Power on, select "Spin Speed" (set to No Spin or simply select the Drain+Spin cycle) to force the water out. If still locked, unplug the machine for 10-20 minutes, or use the emergency manual release cable hidden behind the lower access panel. Look at the bottom front of the unit for a small door or panel. Open the panel and unscrew the small drain hose (have a shallow pan ready for water). Next to the drain hose, there is a plastic strap or red cable. Pull it down to unlock the door latch. Keep in mind that the door will not unlock if the internal temperature is too high, or if the water level is too high. The safety sensor detects water, keeping it locked to prevent flooding. If the lock light blinks or the unit keeps locking immediately after unlocking, the door latch assembly may need to be replaced. If the door still won't open after these steps, the door lock mechanism may be damaged...^Ivan.

Q: QuestionHi, Are these two separate units or is it one unit with both the washer and dryer? My concern is if one breaks (washer or dryer) then does the whole unit have to be replaced or can you purchase separately the washer or dryer? Thank you.
Asked by Stacey.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 5.0 Cu. Ft. HE Smart Front Load Washer and 7.8 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer WashTower with Steam and Ventless Heat Pump Tech - Black Steel
- A:Answer Hi there, Stacey. The LG WashTower™ Model # WKHC252HBA is a single unit that combines both the washer and dryer in a vertical design. The washer and dryer are integrated, meaning they are part of the same unit and cannot be separated for individual repair or replacement. If either the washer or the dryer breaks down, the entire unit would typically need to be serviced or replaced, as they function together as one. https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-wkhc252hba-washtower#pdp_specs For any further assistance or service, feel free to reach out to @LGUSSupport on social media. Q: QuestionI will be purchasing this unit for my apartment. I have to have a 240V plug installed to support the dryer. What kind of 240V plug should I have installed? 3-prong, 4-prong? Is there a picture or common industry name I can give to the electrician?
Asked by Ventless.

- A:Answer Hello there. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your inquiry regarding the electrical requirements for your LG 5.0 Cu. Ft. HE Smart Front Load Washer and 7.8 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer WashTower (WKEX300HBA). For new installations in the United States, we recommend having a 4-prong, 240V, 30-amp dedicated circuit installed.
