“If this sound bar has only an arc hdmi port and not and earc port how can it possibly play dolby true HD dts and Dolby Atmos with out 5.1 being compressed. Isn't earc necessary for audio playback in true dolby atmos and dts? And the c9 TV has earc!”

Both the Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus audio formats are supported in the LG SL10YG 5.1.2 Channel 570W Sound Bar w/Meridian Technology & Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos is supported in two codecs - Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus. HDMI ARC does not have enough data capacity to support the transmission of Dolby Atmos content that is encoded using Dolby TrueHD, which is the format used on Blu-ray Disc and UHD Blu-ray Disc. To support Dolby Atmos over HDMI ARC for Blu-ray Disc playback, the Soundbar has to decode Dolby TrueHD and transcode it to Dolby Digital Plus before output...^IFV
