- Answer The hamper door drops down about halfway--45 degrees instead of going all the way flat. LG promotes this as having a ramp to load clothes into the washer. You then open it from the side (which does swing all the way open) to pull the clothes out when they're done and can have a basket in front to drop them into. It is nice to use it for wet, heavy flannel sheets or even towels because it makes them easier to load into the dryer.

The EasyLoad™ door is designed with a dual-opening mechanism for your convenience. When opening the door from the top in the "hamper style" mode, it is specifically engineered to open at an angle of approximately 40 degrees. This allows the door to act as a chute, making it easier to drop wet clothes into the drum without them falling onto the floor. It is not intended to open all the way down to a 90-degree or horizontal position when used from the top handle.
