Q: QuestionI can run 1440p 120hz on this monitor with my PS5 but I cannot run VRR or low latency mode. Will a hdmi 2.1 to display port 1.4 adapter even work because the PS5 hdmi 2.1 is capped at 32gb/sec and not the full 40gb/sec that hdmi 2.1 allows?
Asked by Welldunn.
- A:Answer Hello there, Welldunn. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and your inquiry about connecting your PS5 to the LG UltraGear 27GS75Q-B.AUS monitor. We understand you're looking to enable VRR and low latency mode. The LG 27GS75Q-B.AUS supports FreeSync (AMD Adaptive Sync) and is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible via DisplayPort, and it also supports HDR10. The PS5 supports VRR over HDMI 2.1. While the PS5's HDMI 2.1 output bandwidth is indeed often cited as 32Gbps (compared to the full 48Gbps capacity of HDMI 2.1), this is typically sufficient for 1440p at 120Hz with VRR, though it may involve chroma subsampling (e.g., 4:2:2 instead of 4:4:4) for higher resolutions/refresh rates with HDR. Regarding using an HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort 1.4 adapter, it's a more complex situation: Active Adapter Required: You would need an active HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort 1.4 adapter. Passive adapters will not work for this conversion, as HDMI and DisplayPort are different signal types. Bandwidth & VRR Support: Even with an active adapter, ensuring full compatibility for VRR and low latency mode can be challenging. The adapter itself needs to be capable of handling the necessary bandwidth and correctly translating the VRR signal from the PS5's HDMI output to the monitor's DisplayPort input. Many adapters on the market may not fully support all HDMI 2.1 features, including VRR, when converting to DisplayPort. Some users have reported mixed results with these adapters, with some working for resolution/refresh rate but not for VRR. Monitor's HDMI Ports: The 27GS75Q-B.AUS has two HDMI inputs. Since your monitor natively supports FreeSync (which is compatible with the PS5's VRR implementation) and 1440p @ 120Hz over HDMI, the most straightforward approach to enable VRR and low latency mode with your PS5 is to connect directly via an HDMI 2.1 cable to one of the monitor's HDMI ports. You should also ensure your PS5's settings for VRR and 120Hz output are set to "Automatic" and that your monitor's "Game Mode" or similar setting is enabled. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-ultragear-27-ips-led-180hz-1-ms-nvidia-g-sync-compatible-and-amd-freesync-gaming-monitor-with-hdr-black/6575404.p?skuId=6575404 Your feedback is important, and we'd like to assist you further. Q: QuestionHello, I would like to know if this monitor has an HDMI 2.1 port? I have an XBOX X and I would like to know if it works perfectly with this monitor.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hello there! We understand your inquiry and are happy to help with your LG UltraGear 27GS75Q‑B.AUS gaming monitor. This model includes two HDMI® ports, which support HDMI 2.0 standards rather than HDMI 2.1. While HDMI 2.1 isn’t available on this unit, you can still enjoy outstanding performance with your Xbox Series X at up to 1440p resolution and refresh rates up to 120 Hz. As a quick troubleshooting step, please ensure your Xbox Series X is set to output the optimal resolution and variable refresh rate (VRR) for this monitor: on your console, go to Settings > General > TV & display options, select 1440p, and enable Allow variable refresh rate. This will help you achieve the smoothest gameplay experience possible on the 27GS75Q‑B.AUS. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-ultragear-27-ips-led-180hz-1-ms-nvidia-g-sync-compatible-and-amd-freesync-gaming-monitor-with-hdr-black/6575404.p?skuId=6575404 If you’d like further assistance—such as firmware updates, calibration tips, or exploring additional settings—please send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport and our team will be more than happy to explore solutions with you.
