Q: QuestionCurrently have a router provided by xfinity will it link wireless to it
Asked by James bond.
- A:Answer If you have Xfinity, their basic router and modem combo they supply is garbage compared to a router like this. I would recommend this router with a Surfboard 6183. Xfinity also charges money every month as "rent" for the devices that you will never actually own. With your own router and modem if you ever switch cable companies you can bring these with you. Make sure the Modem is compatible for Xfinity. What you need to tell them is that it's a Arris/Moto Surfboard 6183. It has 16 downstream channels and 4 upstream channels. This should be more than enough as most companies recommend 8 downstream and 4 upstream so this device does double the downstream. Break free from the rent!

Q: QuestionAT&T 1Gbps?How does this router compare to the AT&T U-verse 1Gbps router? I'm really disappointed with the wifi capability of that router through out the house. Will this one provide a MUCH stronger signal through out the house (2 story, 2950 sq ft)? The home was built in 2014, and I have tried the powerline option and that has not worked (for whatever reason).
Asked by FtLMaverick.
- A:Answer Our house is two stories and approximately 2,800+ square feet. I have the router in our basement on the north end of the house. The signal on the opposite end of the house AND upstairs is approx -70 which is GREAT! Three out of four bars on a cell phone. Our old router (extender) that I had to place half way across the house and in between floors only gave a signal of -85 to -90 which was worse and about the same strength as our neighbors which would interfere. I would definitely recommend this product! I was going to see if it covered the entire house and if not, get a wifi extender. No need!
