QuestionCan the MR9000 be setup without the app, the same way as every other router/switch since the beginning of networking, just by going straight to the web gui from a browser?

- Answer Given the reply from Linksys Staff, I will no longer be purchasing their products. Cloud managed hardware without traditional options is a deal breaker for me. Bought my first Linksys switch over 20 years ago and it, like all of my other Linksys gear, still works the first time, every time. We had a good run too... thanks for the quick response.

QuestionWhat node can be linked up to this to help with wifi signal for outside ring floodlights? I didn't realize BB had return of 15 days..not 30. Stuck with it now and it doesn't reach 50ft to our ring flood lights. So now we have to spend more on nodes..

- Answer Hmm, A bit of a confusing question as the cable modem communicates between your ISP and your devices. The router communicates between the cable modem and your devices. Now. some, if not most cable modems are both a cable modem and a wireless router in one unit. If you are using your ISPs cable modem and wireless router that they provide this would replace the wireless router that you are using on your cable modem. You do not need to contact your ISP that you are no longer using their wireless router. Simply set this up and continue. If you are happy with your new router it would be wise to have the ISP turn off your cable modem's WIFI so as to limit interference ( freeing up some of the noise on the channels as it isn't being used). I don't have this unit but i"m looking into getting it. My opinion is that ANY GOOD router (Wifi-5 or Wifi-6) is far better than any wireless router found in an ISP cable modem as I would guess that they are older technology (Wifi-4) and/or the quality of engineering is lacking a lot of consumer features. These are designed for those who don't know much about their setup and possible don't care so long as it works. But how well it works is a very important question. If you have a large house this product will allow you to add satellites nodes which extend the range of the router. I've found that Wifi-5 routers work fine in my house (1800 Sqft) going through multiple interior walls and the floor (total of 4) as well as the exterior wall and other walls (total of 2). I can stream video from the upper end of my house to the other end of the house on the lower floor.

- Answer Hello, hankBitt. The USB feature of the Linksys MR9000 is only supported when it is set as parent mode. Also, it allows you to share the network with authentication, and it only supports the following file format: NTFS, FAT32, and Samba for Windows; and FAT32, APFS (read-only), and HFS+ for Mac. - Answer The MR9000 router will work with most modems, Makenzie. You can still use your existing modem/router combo device. You can either disable the router capability of your device or set the MR9000 to bridge mode. You can also cascade the MR9000 and create a different network. - Answer Found the answer - I need to switch my AT&T box to "IP Passthrough" mode! Then I plug my new router into that AT&T box and my router gets the public/WAN IP and does all the work for handling my home network. - Answer A metal building I think it behave as the Faraday Cage, therefore, you need WIRED connections to work with internet, phone, etc, since the enclosure you are living in blocks the electromagnetic fields.

- Answer They should be as you will need to configure the extender to be an access point. Check the manufacturers documentation how to accomplish this task. Honestly, if you stick with the name brand router, in this case Linksys, then those extenders are seamless to set up.

- Answer I believe you are thinking of a modem your Internet Service Provider would be renting or leasing to you for a monthly fee. This is a router you would hook your modem up to in order to make WiFi or additional LAN outlets available in your home to other devices (e.g., cell phone, tablet, laptop). Since you would be buying this router outright, there will be no monthly fee for it.

QuestionI have an old WRT 1900 router that has been a work horse, but as I add more devices it is laboring. I see the AC3000 listed as a mesh router. Will any mesh type signal extenders work with it? Full coverage now, but adding one repeater would help.
