QuestionSignal strength thru walls, multilevel homeIi have insulated walls, multilevel home. Will this router penetrate at least two walls?

- Answer We have a multilevel home too. Downstairs you will find cathedral ceilings. Insulated walls and thick carpet. So there is some distance involved here. I have not had any problems whatsoever. Not one dropped connection. No one has had any problem maintaining a connection.

- Answer If it's not a "smart TV", you'll need a "streaming stick" type of device, like a Chromecast to stream content from your PC to your TV.

QuestionWhy is this router throttling my data?If I run a speed test through my modem, I get 100+mbps download. If I run a test through the ethernet port on my router, I can't get above 20mbps. Firmware is up to date and it is the only device on the network. Please help.

- Answer These are good router for your basic in home DSL or cable providers, with the higher packages hitting homes now, to see max bandwith, you're going to have to go to a beefier router. The Asus RT-AC66R which BB also carries gave me what my modem could. They're not as cheap, but man they're work horses!

- Answer DSL, or Digital Subscriber Line, is provided by your phone company and needs to be converted to an Ethernet signal through a DSL modem/gateway. Ethernet runs over Cat5 cable and is used for wired networking inside of your house or business. You can't plug a DSL line into your computer or printer, but you can plug an Ethernet line into them.

QuestionWill this install work with old laptop that only has windows vista? I have iphone, ipad and Roku, got new modem, still have slower speed on speed test, than what I am paying for.

- Answer This will work with laptops running on Windows Vista and can improve the performance of your network. However, if you have slower speed when connected to the modem, it's best if you'll contact your ISP first.

QuestionI do not have an ethernet connection on my laptop, only wifi. Can I set up the router through wifi?? Or do I have to be hardwired into the router? If I need to be hooked in directly to the router I will need to buy a usb ethernet adapter.

- Answer Hi, Paulyd. Yes, you can set this Linksys EA3500 router wirelessly, but we still recommend that you install it hardwired to your computer for you to be able to configure it properly. Also, you no longer need to buy an Ethernet adapter because there's already one available inside bundled with the whole unit.

- Answer Should be fine, just plug in the FIOS WAN output into the Linksys WAN port. If your Verizon FIOS already includes the router function then you can set this up as AP/switch by plugging in the Verizon FIOS LAN port to the Linksys LAN port (might have to disable the DHCP function on Linksys if your Verizon already provides the DHCP function).

- Answer Not that I'm aware of. I didn't see anything in the setup that indicated this type of 'parental control' customization. While this is a great simple router, it isn't doesn't have that type of 'smart' technology.
