Hi. The Linksys WHW0101P Velop Plug-in Node only works with existing Velop network with a primary node.

This is compatible with Linksys Mesh routers only. This is a Mesh extender, similar to google nest, but in order to work you need the router. I do not know what brand is the Xfinity router, but if not Linksys then you will need the Router to make the mesh extender work. Hope this helps.
