“Sony Handycam? Hey guys I was wondering if anyone uses this tripod with a Sony Handycam or know if it will work with one? I was planning on purchasing one of these along with it. I heard that this tripod could not handle really large cameras or camcorders. Therefore, would a Sony Handycam prove too bulky or heavy for this tripod?”

We used it for that works great and it has a new button that mounts to your camera very quick and easy way mount and remove from tripod it's made good

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the standard threading on the quick release plate/button will allow any DSLR or consumer video camera to be mounted to this tripod. I use it with a Sony FDR-AX33 handycam. It easily supports the weight. Of course it's not meant for large or heavy, professional video cameras.

Although it did hold up well enough, I didn't feel it was secure enough for me to trust it. For smaller lightweight consumer type cameras like the Handycam or Vixia, it would be okay.
