A:AnswerIt won't fit into completely into a standard backpack. I have a camera bag and on the outside is a strap for tying my tripod. On a standard backpack, you could place it on the top of the bag (near the back of your neck) and tie it in place (use rope or twine or something).
A:AnswerYes the tripod pans very well. You simply loosen the thumb lock and it will swivel side to side and/or up and down. Very easy. You do have to hold on to the handle until you relock the thumb lock to hold it in place. I recommend this product.
