It was open box deal, which came with pen and type cover.

I have purchased this item, but not yet received it - However, the order details state a free pen is included ( as well as security software ) Also the "items included" show a charger included as well. Hope this helps.

The keyboard is basically required for using Windows 10. The pen works very well but is definitely not as necessary as the keyboard. Hope this helps!
