“Bought a new computer, do I need a OS to use the computer to the full extent, and if so how do I install it? Recently bought a "Gaming Computer" from Newegg and didn't come with Windows CD. From what I heard I need to purchase windows in order to use the computer to it's full extent. I'm not much of a computer guy so answers would be helpful.”

The entire point of that hardware is to run software. The OS is the base software that all the additional software runs on. You need an OS.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most computers do not come with a Windows cd anymore, but it should have been preloaded with the windows operating system (OS). Without an OS it's nothing more than a paper weight. If it didn't come preloaded then you will have to either purchase a Windows OS or some other OS. You can download a free version of Linux if you are brave enough to try and use it; however, I recommend staying with Windows if that is all you know.
