The only compensation they get is the ability to keep the product after testing (if it's good enough to keep). The requirements for these program entail leaving honest reviews after using it. Reviewers are not punished for leaving a negative review and are encouraged to be honest. Their participation is only impacted if they fail to review at all, not the content. Most people tend to be honest but there's always a few you can easily discount. My own typical printer experience is that every single one of them is a nightmare and ink should never be that expensive. This one solves both of those problems for me, so as long as the printer works I'll keep mine. But I wouldn't rely on just printed reviews alone but also look for youtube reviews (keeping in mind that most of them also got it for free).
