Hi Tonoficeinaday, Thanks for reaching out. No, you can actually transfer files from your phone directly to your computer. Please try again later.So, you can connect your MotoX4 to your computer via USB cable (use the one that was in the box, just remove it from the wall charging brick). - - - - - - - Google has nothing to do with this process - - - - - - when you connect the phone to the computer you might not immediately be able to do a picture transfer because the phone might be in a only "charging" mode. - - - - - - - So, just wake the phone up then tap on the notice on the phone showing what it's doing, you'll get some other options: tap on the option that says something like: "photo transfer" or something to that effect. - - - - - When you go to your computer, you'll see the phone icon, double click on it and you'll see the phones hard drive folder and if you have a SD card installed , you;ll see that folder too. ;)
