You have to download and install all the previous security upgrades before it will install. There were 4 or 5.

Please try again later. This is the Moto X4 “Android One” meaning that this device runs a “pure Android experience” that focuses on providing timely OS and security updates. Motorola and Google promise that this device will get Android Oreo 8.0 and with a guaranteed and fast update to Android Pie 9.0 with all the security update in between. This is exactly what happen to me: Phone started with Android Oreo 8.1.0 OPWS 28.46-21-16 and then got 5 separate Security Patches, then got the Android Pie 9.0 then got another 4 Security Patches. I am now at the Security Patch: PPW 29.69-39-2 (April 1, 2019). So, I went through 9 Security Updates and 1 Android OS UpGrade, so you’ll have to dedicate about 2.9 hours to this, I didn’t want to NOT do an update fearing that if I went back to the phone later to continue the rest of the updates to find out that it won’t update anymore for some reason. NOTE: Have the phone plugged into the wall power outlet the whole time you do these updates, you will be doing a lot of restarts and boot-ups – and be patient, let the phone boot-up completely before doing another update and restart. Never rush this type of procedure.
