A:Answer I thought the same thing at first. It is actually a light detection sensor, on the OSD there is an option for Auto-Brightness that uses this. In theory it is used to automatically adjust the screen's brightness for the room's ambient light. However, I have mine turned off as it doesn't work all that well and made my screen dim or brighten randomly. It is not a webcam though, at least on the SKU 6464930 one.
