• A:Answer Wi-Fi connection is necessary for the setup of your Nest × Yale Lock. Although it doesn’t connect directly to Wi-Fi, it uses Weave to connect to a Nest Connect or Nest Guard in your home. Your Connect or Guard will then connect to your Wi-Fi network and communicate with the Nest app. Once your Nest x Yale Lock is all set, you’ll still be able to unlock your door with the keypad if the Wi-Fi goes down, but you won’t be able to use the Nest app to control your lock or change settings. Q: QuestionGood day, u have two questions: 1) can the lock be used externally? So that means both sides of the lock will be exposed to rain , sun etc 2) What’s the furthest the nest connect can be from the lock? Thanks

• A:Answer As the inside portion of the Nest x Yale Lock is not weatherproof it cannot be used outdoors. The Nest Connect can be installed up to 50 feet away from the Nest x Yale Lock. • A:Answer Not sure what you mean by "broken". If a deadbolt lock is truly "broken", then it doesn't matter whether it has a key or not, it won't work. If instead you mean dead batteries, then that has already been answered: there is a way to give it temporary power via a 9V.

• A:Answer Hello. You can't go wrong by choosing this lock. If the batteries run out completely, you need a 9 volt battery and connect the battery (hold the battery against the door lock) with the two pins in the bottom of the lock.

• A:Answer Nest x Yale Lock is designed to replace most common deadbolts. If your RV door has a thickness of 1 3/8 in, 1 3/4 in, or between 2 - 2 ¼ in, and the deadbolt is not more than 2-3/4in away from the edge of your door, Nest x Yale Lock may work. But Nest x Yale Lock requires a Nest Connect or a Nest Guard to establish connection with your Wi-Fi network. Here’s the door requirement: The Nest × Yale Lock will fit several standard door thicknesses: - 1 3/8 in (35 mm) thick - 1 3/4 in (44 mm) thick - Between 2 - 2 ¼ in (51 - 57 mm) thick The Nest × Yale Lock can be used with doors made of the following materials: wood, metal, or fiberglass. Backset - Backset refers to the distance between the edge of your door and the center of the hole for your deadbolt. If your deadbolt is more than 2-3/4 in (70 mm) away from the edge of your door, it’s not compatible. You can check the install guide for more information. Q: QuestionI just bought a home with Nest + Yale on door. Seller took their code off. How do I reset my code in there. I do not have any paperwork on the system. Do I need to download an app? Again I have no QR code or paperwork.

• A:Answer You’ll need to factory reset your device. Search “nest x Yale lock factory reset” on google and you should find detailed instructions. There is a QR code behind the battery cover you can get to by using a paper clip to pop open (look for a small circle at the top of the lock on the inside of the door)
