The Netgear A6100 (AC600) does not require that your laptop have a cd drive for installation.. The necessary driver for installation is also available as a download from Netgear support. I bought this yesterday and have a Dell Inspiron 11 3147 which does not have a cd drive. This Netgear A1600 works great with my Dell !

You need to check out other wifi "range extender" devices that are "Plug & Play", which do not require CD installation.
