Yes, and you'll be as happy as I'm now :) I replaced Airport Extreme with X6 and now have my full 100 Mbps (instead of 50 with Airport Extreme)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used the R8000 to replace my time capsule. Threw the time capsule in the garbage and added a Seagate 1TB hard drive to the R8000 for my back ups. I can't believe how much faster my network is now. I have 8 devices on my network and experiencing no slow downs anymore.

It may use a different gateway address (mine switched automatically to 10.0.0.1 to avoid conflicts). With that you can test the wifi speeds with ookla speed test app.

Yes replacing a wireless router with another is in and of itself fairly straight forward (depending on your security etc) a) make sure you name the SSID the same as your old b) make sure the security is the same c) make sure to use the same passkey / code or else it won't work your systems should reconnect to this automatically and work 2. If you use the Access Control then of course you must decide if it's open or closed to all new devices and if closed, you just have to authorize them 1:1 3. I have the R7000 and it works flawlessly with all the apple, Microsoft, and Android device we have (phones, tablets, ps3/4, xbox 360/One, Nintendo portables, Nintendo etc) 4. if your router is your DHCP server, then make sure to enable it on the R8000 with the same ranges and or go to your devices (and reboot after new router install) and flush the DHCP / IP's etc Replacing a router should be transparent (again for the most part this should be accurate)
