- Answer The Orbi can be used with any modem, but if you’re running off of a Hughesnet connection (which runs from a true satellite connection), you won’t see much improvement in speed or bandwidth. Your WiFi range might improve, but your speed probably will not. If you can switch to a cable service provider like Spectrum, you’ll be much better off.

QuestionI have a metal building about 30' from the main house. If I put a satellite in the main house on the wall nearest the building and another inside of the metal building, would these daisy chain to give the strongest signal possible inside the building?

QuestionCan you plug items into the ports on the satelittle orbi's versus the main hub orbi? Having a problem with kids disconnecting our home security system and would like it locked up on a satellite orbi in our room. Thank you.

- Answer Yes this works. I plug my Ooma IP phone into one of our satellites Ethernet ports in the kitchen, and now the phones main unit is located there(where we like it!). No need to leave the phone in the office next to the old router. It works great!

- Answer It does, under the advanced setting. Use a laptop to configure. The app on the phone can be more difficult.

QuestionI have multiple devices and want to try a Mesh system to get better coverage throughout my home. My question is this. Some of my devices are 5Ghz and some are 2.4 Ghz. If I want to print over wifi from my 5Ghz device to my 2.4 Ghz printer will it work?

QuestionI use smart speakers(Sonos). Many times the app complains about being connected to a range extender, it will lose connection, eventhough they are in the same named network. Will purchasing one of these “solve” this issue?

- Answer Absolutely. I have the same speakers, and I was having the same problem with range extenders near the farthest parts of our house. The Orbi system completely solved the problem with this and with the same problem with my fire sticks.

QuestionThe satellites are powered via the ac adapter. Are the ethernet ports on the satellites powered such that they can power a POE device?

QuestionVerizon offers this system too but they do their own software updates instead of getting them from netgear. I would rather buy from Best Buy, but will it still work with Verizon Fios or do I have to buy it from Verizon?
