QuestionI currently have the satellite where it still has wifi connection with the main modem. Will it be better to connect the satellite via cat 6? I have cable installed already, just not connected to satellite.

- Answer The satellite can be connected to the main unit by either the RF link (the 3rd band) or with an Ethernet cable. In the user manual, this is called "Set Up an Ethernet Backhaul Connection" Personally, I would use Ethernet if you already have the cabling in place.

QuestionIf I were to have lost the satellite, could I still be able to use the router as a normal WiFi router or do I have to have a satellite for everything to work.

- Answer You're describing the situation I'm in right now. The answer is, yes the router will work fine w/o the satellite. My satellite (RBS50) is currently waiting on an RMA replacement and is functionally dead. I'm typing this from the 3rd floor of my 3000 sq.ft. house. The router (RBR50) is on the first floor. Still works fine. Netgear support, on the other hand, could have handed this RMS process better!

QuestionAnyone else having issues with IP reservations? I have tried everything, but the router refuses to implement my IP reservations. I worked with Netgear tech support, and they had no luck. It ignores my IP reservations and ranges.

- Answer Maybe try resetting your modem ? It seemed to work for me. I also have Netgear armor disabled as well.

- Answer If you have a hardware issue, they should help you with an RMA if it's w/in the first year since purchase. After 90-days, and 1-year for hardware, they will sell you extended support. Didn't get the price on that.

- Answer The Orbi router requires a direct Ethernet connection to your home's modem. The satellite can connect wirelessly (or via Ethernet if preferred) to the router and does support a wired connection to your home's computer, Smart TV, gaming systems, and much more!

QuestionDoes this system create WiFi in your apt or is it just a booster to another internet provider?

- Answer The Orbi is a router and creates a “WiFi mesh”. It is not a WiFi booster. If you live in an apartment, or small house, you could probably get by with just the router (RBR20), as it covers up to 2000 sq ft. I have the RBK50, (router and satellite) and it covers up to 5000 sq ft. If you have an ISP’s modem or modem/router combo, the Orbi will connect to the ISP’s device via the supplied Ethernet cable.

- Answer No you cannot. This package includes a router and a satellite if you wish to increase your range just purchased another satellite package and add it to your existing orbi system.
