    • Answer Thank you for the question and happy to help. This camera is an add-on camera made for additional coverage for compatible systems. It does require a recorder to connect and then can be viewed on a monitor or via mobile app. We do however offer other standalone IP cameras that do allow for no recorder to use. Model CAM-WNIP8LBU or CAM-2PK-FWIP8L would be options to consider as they will work via mobile app. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance. Night Owl SP Digital Support Team
