A:AnswerThe Nikon D5500 DSLR camera body was originally distributed and sold in February of 2015. The Nikon D5600 DSLR camera body is the newest addition to the Nikon D5000 line but is not replacing the D5500 at this time. Both DSLR bodies are currently available for purchase as a new product with no "end distribution" date shown for either of them.

A:AnswerThe Nikon D5500 DSLR camera is able to access GPS features when the Nikon GP-1a GPS Unit is attached and has a 1/4 inch (ISO 1222) standard tripod socket that fits any tripod with that same measurement.
A:AnswerMine was new. You should be able to tell by the way it is packed. I doubt anyone would be able to rewrap the items the way the factory does. I think you could tell if it was repackaged. As far as a refurbished unit goes ther would be signs of wear or surface scratches. I trust Best Buy. Not sure if I would feel confident buying this kind of item off the internet. More likely to get returned or refurb unit on line.
