• A:Answer Wait for the rift quest 2, this headset is no longer being manufactured as they now moved to the quest 2. The built in speaker does not provide true surround sound, and would be better with earphones.

• A:Answer Yes, the Oculus works with Steam and has no issues other than sometimes you have to click on the game in your task bar to bring it forward. But with the super cool desktop icon in Oculus, you don't even have to take the headset off. Or you can use the passthrough if you don't like desktop app.... still don't have to take the headset off. Hope this helps.

• A:Answer I would recommend any laptop that can pass the steamvr performance test. But if you're looking for names, the GTX 1060 is cutting it close. Any of the RTX cards can easily handle most VR games. Ensure that the laptop you are looking for has USB 3.0 and Displayport. Also, most mid-high end CPU's will work fine

• A:Answer There are some that can work alone and will do mostly what an 8 year old would want or need. Those are great entry VR headsets and are reasonably priced, being about $300-$500, if you want a stand alone then get the Quest 2. Which is a stand alone and a good entry to VR. If you want to enjoy it yourself and want an overall better experience in the end. You will want one like the Rift S or HP Reverb G2, would need a decent PC. The Rift S can be found for about $400. There are better qualities and better visuals than the Rift S out there.

• A:Answer Buy a quest. It either won't run or run well depending how low end. Either scenario is not good. Your laptop needs to be VR capable and you also need a display port. Your best off with the stand-alone if you want to get any vr gaming in at all.
