You can use charcoal briquettes in the Karu 12, yes. You can also use wood or propane (with an attachable gas burner, sold separately).

• A:Answer Hi Amanda, Ooni sells 5" oak logs and lump-wood charcoal on our website, perfectly tailored to the needs of the Karu 12. Many hardware and specialty outdoor cooking stores also carry similar fuel. Please make sure that you are only using kiln-dried hardwood logs no longer than 5", and steer clear of charcoal briquettes (which don't burn the same and can cause blockages that prevent proper airflow). Q: QuestionCan I use on my outdoor lanai which has 10 ft ceilings that is open on 2 sides ? How much spoke does it produce ?

The Karu 12 requires 3 meters of clearance above the chimney, so a 10 ft ceiling will not meet our certification guidelines for safe operation. We recommend always using the Ooni fully outdoors. Q: QuestionDoes the store have the newer 2023 version or is it the 2021? Anyone know the differences?

• A:Answer Thank you for reaching out. You can order the new Karu 12G on the BBY website and chose in-store pickup but not all locations will have the model on display. The main difference is the attached glass door and the powder coating on the outside. Another big difference is the temperature gage on the side of the Karu 12G to help tell you when it's hot enough to launch your pizza.
