QuestionI want to upgrade the sound of this projector but don't want to change to much my current set-up: Phone, Chromecast, Projector. I want to buy a sound system (preferably Sonos ) that can help me this but am not sure it is as simple as a cable and a Beam?

- Answer Receivers will allow you to do almost anything. Just buy a HDMI cord to hook up from your receiver to your projector. I purchased a heavy-duty 25 ft HDMI cord from Amazon and now the possibilities are endless.

- Answer It uses active glasses, I recommend the Optoma brand glasses and the emitter add on unit.

- Answer Not in direct sunlight as long as you gave the screen or your wall is in a shaded area, then yes.

- Answer I haven’t tried but yes. I think you would need speakers too . The speakers built in are not loud

- Answer I used this website to determine my screen size. I am very impressed with the projector and would buy it again as it is a deal. https://www.projectorcentral.com/projection-calculator.cfm I use mine for an outdoor application with these measurements: Distance from projector to screen is 25 feet (300") Screen Height is 98" Screen width is 202" and diagonal measurement is 217".

- Answer Yes, you can project on a wall, but a screen will be clearer. Also, you would want the wall to be white or the colors will be distorted.

QuestionWhat is the best way to get highest quality sound to a 5.1 theatre system? I read something about a transmitter, would that make the audio 5.1 capable? And will lip sync latency be bad? Thanks in advance!

- Answer that is all dependent on your video source. I would hook up my sound system to whatever is providing the source not the projector

- Answer This is not a DVD player. An external DVD that has an HDMI output may be plugged into it.

QuestionCan i leave the projector in my man cave with no central air? When i use it i have a window ac, but when i don't use it and it is 95 or hotter is it ok to leave it in there?

- Answer Hello, while 95 degrees F is very warm, this is within the operating temperature of HD143X. If ceiling mounted, please ensure there is several inches between the projector and ceiling. Operating Temperature: 41–104°F (5–40°C), 85% max humidity Thank You.

QuestionWhat type of speaker do I need to purchase for outdoor use with the projector?

- Answer If you don't have some type of home theater audio system you can easily add external speakers. there is no bluetooth connectivity on this model from Optoma. On the back of the projector there is a standard headphone style jack. that is stereo audio out. From there you could hook in a Soundbar or other surround sound system using the 3.5 mm audio out jack and converting the stereo sound to L&R RCA connections.

QuestionI am considering this to be used with an 80-90 inch screen from about four feet away. Could it get an image that large at that distance? Also, how loud does it get? Thanks Aaron

- Answer I believe you can get away with it. I have a 120" screen in my bedroom and my HD143X is placed at the half way point of room about 12 feet, that is the maximum footage that I can go in order to get a full screen shot, it's perfect. And you can still reduce the size of the picture in the settings menu. You can move it up to 4 feet and adjust the size of your picture by shrinking it to fit your screen or enlarge it.

QuestionWhat makes this projector "Smart" as indicated in the product name? I can't seem to find anything in the specs that would indicate smart capability.

- Answer Yes you can, if you hook up a receiver with the hdmi cord and from there you can perform wireless functions. I use. My phone all the time for my music and watched the Superbowl from my phone without paying cable companies a penny. I'm an ex-cablewomen.

- Answer no there is no built in wifi from what I can see. Optoma does sell a wireless adapter called HDCast pro-black, which will allow wireless connection via the HDMI port with MLH, or a powered USB port. here is the link to options show on their website: https://www.optoma.com/us/product-category/accessories/wireless/
