Q: QuestionWhat is upconversion?

• A:Answer As I understand it, it takes older DVDs which were not created for HD and converts them so they work on HD TV. I bought this when my other one bit the dust. It does a great job. It is basic, there is no display so you don't know how many minutes in you are, but do you really use that feature?

• A:Answer Yes, but the DVD player is only 1080p so you won't get a 4k picture from the DVD player

Q: QuestionCan this be used if I have a Samsung TV.....that is 5 years old ? SECONDLY--Does it have a light that goes on when the Player is being used ? The power button...does it light up when you use the unit ?

• A:Answer Hello Lynnega, good you have sent us this question. The Philips - DVD Player with HD Upconversion BDP3502 should be connected to your television with a HDMI cable. As long as your television has a HDMI port it will be compatible. The power button does not light up when you press it. However, there is a small red light on the player which incicates it is connected to power while it is turned off. The green light is on when the player is being used. Hope this answers! Q: QuestionCan I use this to play CDs on my stereo sound system? Does it come with the needed cables for that? Any other issue that might prevent me from doing that?

• A:Answer Yes you can it has to be a factory CD no unsupported disc simply cause home made if you not sure what speed your CD burner is recording at the player will be unable to read disc. But if you are up to burning CDs it needs to be mp3 setting or 128kp. Player comes with analog video audio cables 36" 1 yellow 1 red 1 white that's about it the player for what price it's sold for worth buying

• A:Answer I answered a similar question to this, but I believe it does honor region coding. But most Phillips models have region hacks which can easily be found online by simply typing the model number along with the phrase "region hack" into Google.
