Is this unit compatable with Bose 901's? null

As there are no pre-amp input/outputs or a tape loop on the rear of the receiver, I would say no. Still an excellent receiver one that I am thinking hard about owning. It's between this and the Onkyo TX-8160. I've given it several months and need to decide. I too own an nice pair of 901s and should I want to use them I have a 40+ year old receiver with two tape loops. Bingo!
