“My current receiver isn't 2.2 capable but it does upscale 1080 to near 4K. Does this receiver only pass the 4k signal or will it upscale say cable TV to the same near 4K?”

I know this won't be the BEST answer. I don't use the feature but there is an option to upscale 1080 to 4K. I can't speak to the results, but the option is definitely there!
