Q: QuestionI am buying a pair of the Polk Audio XT60’s and note that they have the 5-way wire connection. My Sony STR-DE135 receiver has spring activated wire connectors. Will I still be able to connect these speakers to my receiver?

• A:Answer Hello. Yes - the XT60s allow for 5 different means of wire connection - giving you a wide range of connectivity options, including bare wire. You get to choose which connector you prefer at the speaker end - we recommend banana plugs for a satisfying combination of performance on convenience. At the Sony receiver end of the speaker wire you can either use 2 mm banana plugs or bare wire.

Q: QuestionI have the Polk Audio monitor series speakers rated at 30-200 watts. They are listed at 4-8 ohms. I have a Pioneer VSX-935 which is rated at 4-16 ohms. When setting up the speakers it asks if you want 4-6ohm @175watts or 8ohm and above @80watts.Which 1?

• A:Answer Hi Magnum. In the case of speaker wattage ratings, 25 watts is the recommended minimum amplifier power rating. If you have an amplifier/receiver with at least 25 watts on tap, the Monitor XT60 speakers will be happy. Amplifiers provide the power, speakers handle the power. The more the volume dial is raised, the more power is delivered to the speaker to make it go louder.

• A:Answer Yes - if you have the karaoke equipment and an amplifier already, then the Monitor XT60 can be used for such a requirement. Best not to get too close to the speakers with the microphone, otherwise feedback can cause big problems.
