I just installed my Ring so I don’t know longevity or wear and tear of direct sunlight yet. Mine faces West as well and the video somehow filters out some of the Sunlight and the video is clear during the day. There are settings that can desensitize the motion detection to cut out motion from the street or certain areas of the sidewalks or yard and a sensitivity setting. You can even set it for people motion only but haven’t tried that yet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My house also facing direct the sun and high traffic area, 2. currently having issue with flickering and blinking video. 1. You can set the zone only at the stair or people who enter your property to start the alert. So u can test it out and buy it and see, couldn’t garantee the product will work 100%. I even went to change a different unit to see the one I got is defective but not the hardware problem, firmware problem. I have been waiting for them to fix the issue for over a month and half now and still haven’t resolved.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the Geek Squad install and set my Ring up. I am handy, but they are super handy and they filtered out areas of sunlight and traffic just to eliminate the noise. I am not sure all situations can be totally handled, but they certainly would give you the best shot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Use the white cover and angle it down a bit. You can set motion zones to not get certain areas. It's very specifically tuned.
