Go to Ring.com to view product manuals. The Ring Video Doobell and Doorbell 2 are battery powered with a rechargeable battery. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro requires wired power from an existing home doorbell system or purchased Ring AC power adapter with 20 foot long cord.

If you want one that works easy without wiring, get the original Ring Doorbell or the Doorbell 2 that use batteries. The 2 has the option to be wired if you ever choose to get the wiring installed.

All it needs is power from a transformer that's wired into any box that has 120V power. If you're not lucky enough to have wire at your door from an old doorbell, you can run new even if you're marginally handy. All it needs is power. You don't need an existing doorbell to use. I have two synced into the chimes and they work great.
