Hi Phred, Great question! No, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro will not operate on battery power. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro is a hardwired doorbell that requires power from a transformer of 16-24VAC, 50/60HZ. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe they make a batter powered and a hardwired version of the doorbell cam. I have the hardwired version. Easy to install. Only two wires at the doorbell. And two on the chime. Just make sure power is off, remove old hardware and rework doorbell and follow instructions for chime. I was a little confused on my particular chime, but I was looking at wrong wires for chime. Had to take the front completely off to access correct wires, not just the cover.
