Bad news. Samsung S2 was not optimized for MHL. Buy a new phone like Galaxy S6 or Note 5. Or 2016 within February or March S7 series would be out.

Disconnect the HDMI cable and the adapter from both ends and then reconnect them. TTurn your phone on. Once it has rebooted, plug in the TV. Also make sure that your phone is set up to send the signal using the allshare cast app or screen sharing.
