“Any suggestions why mhl adapter may not work with Composite/AV adapter? I connected the adapter to my phone and a HDMI TV and it works. I connect it to a HDMI to Composite/AV adapter and it does not work. I connect a LG Blueray player HDMI to the Composite/AV adapter and it works. Is there some setting on the phone that I may be overlooking? The phone is Galaxy S4, the MHL adapter is Rocketfish and the Composite/AV adapter is J-Tech Digital JTD-MH-AV. Thank you for any suggestions.”

Simple answer the MHL technology was not design to work with non-HDMI connection. I did have a Samsung S4 too and it works better on it's own Samsung MHL 2.0 or higher. It seems you're trying to mix from old with new technology - Try to explore your option with ChromeCast wireless device with your Samsung S4 too, or any older devices too.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Could be two reasons. 1) the adapter is made to work with hdmi only, so plugging an adapter into an adapter is causing the problem. There maybe another kind of MHL adapter out there that can handle that cross ur trying to do...doubtful, but rocketfish MHL adapter is made for hd tvs that support hdmi. 2) ur phone isn't MHL capable.
