Hi Linda! Sorry to hear your experiencing issues with your Roku streaming player. You do not need a soundbar to hear audio with a Roku streaming player. There are several steps you can take which may resolve the issue. First make sure you have connected your Roku to your TV using the included HDMI cable. You will also want to check that your Roku is plugged into outlet power. Also check the HDMI cable to make sure it is firmly seated into the HDMI port on both your TV and Roku streaming player.
