It does stick out, but not any further than the stove underneath it

And, if you like to reheat meals on a dinner plate, be aware the turntable is actually the same exact size as a dinner plate. The cooking cavity is ONLY 1 cu., on a very small scale for the needs of a family. Consider your particular needs and appearance when purchasing appliances. This one was a bad mistake for my home.
