No, this is not a Windows computer. It uses the Chrome operating system. It's important to note that Windows based software will not work on a Chromebook. Chrome offers many free alternatives to commonly used Windows software programs like Word, Powerpoint and Excell.

Chrome OS is basically Google Chrome (and Chrome apps & Extensions), Depending on what your doing this is all you need - For browsing the web, checking email, watching video's, editing / creating word, excel, etc.. docs it works great. I'm a software developer, unless i'm doing something that requires I use a special application for, since i've had this Chromebook I mainly work from it. I can carry it around the office, go to meetings, sit down and work, take it on a trip. All this time i don't have to be as concerned about my battery dying - i get 7 hrs at the very least on a full charge. Here's a couple of links showing how Chromebooks work.
