“Does it really require manual restart after power failure Im reading that the samsung fridges require a manual restart of the fridge (not just the LCD display) after a power failure or that it will automatically restart once the temprature reaches 100+ degrees. We travel a lot so this would be a huge issue, is it true?”

Yes it's happened twice while we were away and we lost all food in the freezer and fridge and it stunk like a dead corpse for 2 months each time

However, power outages are sometimes accompanied by surges that can damage the refrigerator or cause it to revert to "demo mode" (or cooling off mode) which can be deactivated through the control panel.
