Q: QuestionI need to replace my Samsung WF431ABP/XAA washer. Will the new WF45R6100AP model stack onto the storage pedestals I already have?

• A:Answer I’m looking at the same model exchange, Both models reference the WE402NP pedestal and the pedestal indicates “comparable with 27 Samsung machines” so all indications say they’re the same.

• A:Answer The water supply hoses that come with the washer are about 5' long. If your washer is installed more than 4' from the water supply, you may need to purchase longer hoses. Your Best Buy Appliance Associate can help you find alternate hoses. The drain hose that comes factory installed on your washer is approximately 6' long, and can be extended by purchasing another section of hose, then attaching it to the original hose by clamping them together with a steel sleeve. Samsung recommends a vertical discharge of no more than 9', with a maximum of 13' in any direction, based on the pump's capability. - Ms. Samsung

Q: QuestionWhat is the benefit of a steam washer?

• A:Answer I have a steam washer but I don't use the feature much as it adds several minutes to the cycle time. I would imagine it would work best on durable clothes that have a lot of stains... grass and grease and the like. Basically, steam is associated with lots of heat so the garment better be able to handle high temps. Best bet is to go with a top rated Consumer Reports model that rates well for cleaning regardless of the steam feature.

• A:Answer The amount of foam that is visible in the WF431ABP and other models with the Power Foam feature can vary depending on several factors, including the size of the load, the cycle that's selected, the type and amount of detergent and the kinds of fabrics being washed, since it penetrates different fabrics at different rates. PowerFoam is beneficial because it pre-dissolves the detergent by infusing the mixture of detergent and water with air, so what's important is not how much foam is visible, but whether the detergent has been pre-dissolved so it can penetrate fabrics faster and more thoroughly. • A:Answer Thank you for the question. Most current Samsung dryers that are designed to match front load washers can be stacked on top of the washer using the SK-5A stacking kit accessory. This includes the DV431 which can be stacked on top of the WF431 using this accessory. - Ms. Samsung

• A:Answer Thank you for the question. Samsung washing machines, including the WF431ABP, do not require gas connections to generate the steam. The required connections are hot and cold water, and electricity (120V/60 Hz/15 amps). If you choose to have a gas dryer in addition to the washer, then you would need both a 120V/60 Hz/15-amp electrical connection as well as either a natural gas or liquid propane (LP) supply to power the heater. The electric dryer would not require a gas connection, but you would need a more powerful electrical connection of 240V/60 Hz/30 amps. For more information, I would suggest consulting with your local Best Buy Appliance or Installation team, or downloading a pdf file of the User Manual from Samsung's website. - Ms. Samsung

• A:Answer No it cannot. We actually switched the side that our old washer was on so that both the washer and dryer doors opened in opposite directinos. The dryer door can be changed if needed.

• A:Answer Samsung washers are notorious for issues. Just google Samsung spider flange. All front loaders can have issues but Samsungs are the worst by far.

• A:Answer While the WF431 does have many of the same features as the WF448, I wouldn't necessarily say it's a direct replacement. The 4.5 cubic foot WF431 offers Samsung's signature Power Foam and Vibration Reduction Technology features, as well as Steam and a stainless steel Diamond Drum for thorough but gentle cleaning.
