• Thanks for the question. Turning off the water supply line to replace the filter is not a requirement, but doing so may help to alleviate pressure in the lines if you find it difficult to remove the old cartridge or insert a new one. - Ms. Samsung

• I tried changing the water filter without turning off the water line. It seems to work. You do not need to turn off your waterline to change the filter.
